The top Scientists have confirmed that eating meat, and the activities required for its production i.e. livestock farming, surpasses even fossil-fuel emissions in its detrimental effects on Earth’s environment/ozone. That ought to be a HUGE wake-up call in itself…
But before I even became aware of global warming issues, from a young age I was deeply bewildered, frightened & sickened by the idea of mass-killing & eating my beautiful animal friends – and still am. How can we humans claim to be part of ‘Evolution’ if we support such barbarous, destructive and unnatural animal-slaughter in any way? I have eschewed animal products since…
But being vegan myself is not enough: As long as I know there are still chickens crippled in battery cages awaiting death, pigs cooped up in the worst cruelty with nothing to look forward to in their lives but to be brutally slaughtered for human ‘consumption’ – the list of horrible facts goes on & on – I feel compelled to change people’s minds and, hopefully, actions…
Thankfully, many like-minded people – including those on terrific sites like The Point – share my view & the will to change the world. We are in good company, too, as attested by these famous quotes from illustrious vegans past & present:
bq.*"Nothing will benefit human health and increase chances for survival of life on Earth as much as the evolution to a vegan diet." – Albert Einstein
bq.“The time will come when men such as I will look upon the murder of animals as they now look upon the murder of men.” – Leonardo Da Vinci
bq.“Changing the way we eat – from a meat-based to a plant-based diet – is the single most effective thing we can do for our health, for animals, for the environment, for human rights, and for the creation of a nonviolent and compassionate world.” – Compassionate Cooks*
