I’m don’t think farmers markets currently accept food stamps, but they really should, especially for grocery items (as opposed to prepared foods). not sure what will go into this, but i think it’s a great cause if we can get a campaign together.

I know that the town of Lexington offers “coupons” for free food at the farmers market to families in need. If you call the town hall and inquire about the food pantry and other services you will be asked a series of questions about your income level, how many in the house hold, if you recieve food stamps and so on. I thought this was a great way for people in need to get fresh produce during the spring, summer fall months that they would not be able to get from the food pantry.
