nice. i actually thought of doing that once. i have a large house, rented rooms, and found that it really helped people save money.

once, i reluctantly rented to a single mother of two. the kids were only partial custody, but by allowing her to rent a shared house, she had a place to bring her kids, and got more visiting time with them. also she could save lots of money and she eventually moved into her own apartment. last time i heard, she was doing pretty well, she just needed a little help, and the cheap rent with me was all she needed.

i thought of turning all 8 bedrooms of the house into a place where struggling single moms could live. they could have low cost rent, share utility costs, and if they wanted, they could share cooking, laundry duties, even share baby setting services to eachother, and that way they could more easily afford to be mobile, get work, go to work, go shopping for necessities, and all kinds of other benefits because they would lean on eachother for help.

it was just not in the cards, but i have not given up hope. now i see what youre doing. if i get a few dollars free soon, i will be sure to re-visit YOUR site and help what i can.

    good going,

    Rob

    Mr. Duvall,
Thank you for your interest and for what you have done in the past. There is such a need. Women usually cannot get the same type of jobs that men get therefore not getting paid as much as men. This is just a fact. THis makes it harder for women to be able to make it on their own. We want to teach life skills so that these women can learn to be sucessful.
If you ever consider using your home again we would love to set up a program for you.

    Merry Christmas
    Cathi

I am new to The Point. I’m searching for help for my Daughter, Amy, who has recently left an abusive relationship.

It is so frustrating. Society tells these women to “just leave if he’s abusing you”… like it’s no big thing.

Now, my Daughter is going through REAL HELL.

Three & one half weeks after she & her Daughter moved out, he got a Lawyer (his mommy foot the bill) & slapped her with a Custody Lawsuit.

Then, he & his mother went to a Judge a lied about Amy under oath, to get what is called an

EX PARTE (Emergency Temp. Custody Order)

My Daughter & I were completely “Legal Illiterate”.
If we would have known then what we know now…

Every woman out there that is in an abusive relationship BEWARE… When you get ready to leave, go straight to a JUDGE!!! I can’t stress this enough!

If Amy would have known this first, she would have her Daughter with her right now!!!

Instead, his mother is now “playing house” with Bridget until the Custody Hearing in Febuary. The date has not been set yet.

I have started a Campaign for her. Anyone out there with a Heart for Mother & Child?

I dont know where you are located at but there are free legal services that can help. Check with the local human services and they can get you a phone number.
You will be in our prayers

    “Free Legal Services” HA

She quailified for Legal Aid (North Carolina).
    Her appointment was 10/08/08.

We brought all her evidence, & explained everything.
The Lawyer said they would let her know in @ 10 days…

One & one half months (& many un-returned calls) later, Amy got a letter from Legal Aid.

It states that unfortunately they do not have the resources to help everyone, so they are not going to help her… No bearing on her case, mind you…
They just DON’T HELP EVERYONE IN NEED!
