Count Me In, an online payment corporation, stopped handing over dues and fees it was collecting on behalf of the Encino Little League. The treasurer for Encino’s League, Jeff Bacon, estimates a $100,000 shortfall in membership fees.
No criminal charges have been filed as of yet. Count Me In claims it had voluntarily suspended the ‘pay via credit card’ feature on its website weeks ago.
Terry Drayton, founder and chief executive of Count Me In, claimed all missing funds went towards operating costs and none of it was stolen. Operating costs include the computer software used by the company’s clients. Another reason for the shortfall according to Drayton was the lack of financial oversight.
