    Hello everyone I am new and very confused about all of this ebay/pay pal changes, joined here and other websites in trying to find answers/other venues to make the money I need to make to survive the painful disease I suffer due to no medical insurance or help from my local, state and government after no longer able to get no fault insurance as it exhausted the max limit, so I am scared is probably a more appropriate word for what is to come with ebay, just learned of this strike after the fact, all I know is it killed my sales which hurts my pocket very badly to get my mothly doc appt in and meds, anyways tried to join your yahoo group and it says “Group Not Found

    When we first heard of the changes in that infamous eBay e-mail a lot of us hit the panic button, too. Many people really can’t leave eBay cold-turkey just yet, even though they may despise the company. (Well, who doesn’t by now?) But if you’re a powerseller that’s good news because it’s the smaller-volume sellers who stand to be most negatively affected by both the Paypal changes and, come May, the feedback. (The reason is that quantitatively more sales means less likelihood of taking a serious hit from one or two bad buyers, causing feedback and DSRs to drop, soon used to determine everything from search ranking to imposition of PayPal 21 day holds, and even fees, to a minor degree. When feedback is only calculated by a single year, high volume sellers will also be somewhat less affected.) So it could be worse. I would think the best course would be to remain on eBay for now, biding your time, and list your items in a way that skirts the worst of the fee increases, while also branching out into other venues. We’ll likely all have to do this, spreading our items around, but we’ll all probably take some kind of hit in prices, due to lack of buyer traffic at the alternative sites, all of them really. Last week Martin S. was nice enough to organize most of them into an alphabetical list, posted in this comments section (see the comments tab, page 2), totaling about 35 alternative sites. A lot of the choice depends on what you sell, though, and we’re still trying to format a large chart that brings in more detailed info. on which places are really better for which types of items, based on sell-through rates. The ones I hear the most about are Onlineauctions.com and Wagglepop, but this may be random and I can’t vouch for them yet. (Amazon and ABE are okay for used books, that’s all I can really say with any certainty now.) This is where the ‘WeBay’ idea comes in, too — at least this period of seller-flight and uncertainty could be temporary and, if enough people are unhappy with the state of online auction sales and decide to make a go of building the Webay, at least there would be hope for another huge single market, as big or bigger than eBay was, and free, if we can just spread the word far enough. It’s only been a little over a week for this campaign but I think now is when the real work starts, evaluating and comparing the new venues as we become familiar with them, testing the waters on eBay, and spreading the word to others still on eBay who haven’t heard what eBay is really doing now, yet can see when their bill comes that something is very wrong there.
