I was really surprised when I discovered that Starbucks did not offer free Internet services. I have been going to a different coffee shop whenever I need an Internet connection but would be willing to stop purchasing entirely from Starbucks if tipping point is reached.

As a student, it is essential a coffee shop has wireless internet to use for research, communication, etc. Please offer free internet opposed to the subscription T-Mobil wireless internet you have currently available.

Starbucks DOES have free WiFi….if you purchased their card, put a minimum $5 or more in it, and then register your card online; each time you make a purchase with your card, you could use their T-Mobile WiFi for free within next 2 hours.
I just worked there in NYC two month ago (I have left the job since because I hated!!!) and this is the promotion that they already be going on since May ’08 that they encourage every customer to pick up a card and purchase at the register.
(Starbucks’ Barista is a very mind and physically demanding job, and I have seen some worst customers in my entire life worked in most retail stores. Even though I hated this job, but I have to say I absolutely salute all the workers in Starbucks, especially those who have worked in the busiest locations and still keep up their best attitude every job day!)

Tom Salinaro replied on Apr 16, 2008What does it cost to drip a wifi connection? Supposing it costs them $150 a month for the connection and support with 300 customers a day it would cost less than .02 per customer. And I assuming the best and worst of those two figures in SB’s favor.
Making good coffee isn’t that hard. Take from SB their innovations and the market they have grown because they are being punks.

Travis White replied on Aug 14, 2008You guys are hilarious, they don’t HAVE to give you free wireless, it costs them LOTS of money too. Just think, what if I came to your house demanding that I get free internet?

Mike Anderson replied on Aug 28, 2008I guess you missed the point Travis. This campaign is here to pressure Starbucks into providing WiFi for their customers as a service for their patronage. Of course they don’t HAVE too or they would already be doing it.
