Today $35 gets you five 50-minute classes at SomaFit in Upper Georgetown. Web reviews praise SomaFit's stunning facility and talented staff of instructors. Take five of the same class or mix and match to see what you like best—at just $7 per class, you're getting an unbelievable bargain.
SomaFit's beautiful facilities are stocked with nine treatment rooms, quiet lounges, showers, saunas, and steam. Even if you pass on the additional spa services SomaFit offers—massage, facials, body treatments, manicures, pedicures, and waxing—you'll still experience the Feng Shui of its gorgeous facilities, which won an interior architecture award from the DC chapter of the American Institute of Architects.
SomaFit is a day spa and fitness center—not a standard corporate gym or housing for a secret cabal of relaxation gurus attempting to control the world. Its friendly instructors bring years of experience and loads of passion to the classes, all held in an intimate and bright studio that absolutely won’t brainwash you.
Reviews
Washingtonian magazine and The Washington Post have good things to say about SomaFit. Eight Yelpers give SomaFit 3.5 stars and CityVoters give it 15 thumbs-up:
- They have a great facility, great trainers and I get a great workout. I've been to several Gym's in the area but Somafit is by far the best. – Deborah Smith, CityVoter
- …it never feels crowded - key for a relaxing environment, I'd say. The front desk staff is very friendly and welcoming. – Abbey A., Yelp
- Great equipment and instructors. Fabulous massage therapists. Incredible ownership/management. – Charlie Triplett, CityVoter
The Rumors Are Not True
The conspiracy theories about SomaFit, a DC spa and fitness center, are not true.
- The Egyptian God of Stress Relief So-mah-Phit and the hieroglyphics that claim the secrets of relaxation have no connection to SomaFit.
- Though a secret order of Masons controlled the British government in the seventeenth through nineteenth centuries through Soma movement and yoga, there is no historical evidence linking this to DC's current SomaFit.
- Despite conspiracy theorists insisting that SomaFit crash-landed in New Mexico in 1957 and was sent to a secret hangar to teach Pilates to the CIA, government documents prove that it was nothing more than a spa-shaped weather balloon.
Groupon is glad to have cleared up any misconceptions about SomaFit and to remind you that the eye witnesses who saw two to three armed SomaFits on the grassy knoll have character flaws that make their testimony inadmissible in court.

Megan Sclaroff replied on Jul 1, 2009Hey guys its Megan from Groupon Washington DC!
Giin,
Unfortunately, this does not include the sauna and steam facilities. There is a changing room and lockers available for before and after classes, a member of their staff would be more than happy to help you with that upon arrival.Debbie,
Of course men can take the class! These classes are gender neutral. Enjoy!

Azure O'Neil replied on Jul 1, 2009Hi Megan – I have been trying to get a friend into yoga for a while now. I have purchased my Groupon, but if he purchases one and ends up not being up for more than one yoga class, can I use the rest of his class credits for myself? or will he have to forfeit them?

Megan Sclaroff replied on Jul 1, 2009Hello Azure,
I fully advocate getting your friends to try new things! However, in the fine print we do say it is one per person. There are also 3 types of classes available that may suit him better. If you would like to discuss this further i would recommend speaking to SomaFit about this.
You can call them at (202) 965-2121.
