Can a magazine make do this without advertising that they’re doing it or mentioning it any way in the magazine?
If they make a big deal out of it, they’re just exploiting it as a marketing opportunity.

I’m fine with them using it as a marketing opportunity – just as long as they follow the conditions. That’s what makes this win-win, for their profit, their image, and also for furthering female self-esteem.
I liken it to the “Campaign for Real Beauty” put on by Dove. Yes, part of its ultimate goal is to sell products, but on the way there a lot of young girls will benefit from their efforts.
