Earlier this year I spent 2 months doing volunteer work in Pisco, Peru, a town that had been devastated by an earthquake. It was an incredible, life-changing experience for me, and I want more! I’m now working on raising the money to fly myself down there again to help with the installation of a clean water system in San Pablo, a very poor village in the Cajamarca region of Peru. I’m involved with a great student group, Oregon Direct Action, that is working on this campaign along with nonprofit partners in Portland (Green Empowerment) and Peru (Soluciones Practicas). Our nonprofit partners have lots of experience and I know the project will be a great success! I’ll be doing a bunch of work on the project from here, like raising funds, planning, research, etc. A group of us plan to travel Peru this summer and help install the system & do other humanitarian projects with the locals. I’ve got lots to contribute, please help me get down there!
