NO! Screw growing hemp! Don’t ruin the outdoor growers’ pot fields. That just degrades the genetics that lots of ppl have spent years developing for better weed. The pollen from boy plants is super light so it carries for MILES. I’m also unsure why hemp is supposed to be better than cotton or recycled synthetics. perhaps there’s some hidden benefit, but i can’t see it.

Campaign Closed: "Overturn the 1937 Marijuana Tax Act" announced 2 months ago

Currently, farmers are taxed by the ounce to grow a crop that makes less demand on the soil than cotton and is naturally disease resistant and requires no chemical pesticides. Hemp is an excellent bumper crop for the U.S. because it grows so well in our climate.
It is good for our forest-depleted environment because it transpires at a rate four times that of trees.
If the Tax Act were overturned, then we could stimulate the economy from the base (farmers), promote more cottage industry that is green, promote the development of green products like toilet paper, fine linen-like textiles and paper that lasts hundreds of years longer than wood-pulp paper, reduce our carbon footprints, improve our environment, and leave big business to fend for itself.
We must start thinking in terms of cottage industry if we are to go green in our practices as farmers, manufacturers, researchers and developers, employers and consumers.

I just discovered that the 1937 Marijuana Tax Act was overturned by Congress in 1969. I apologize for the oversight, (apparently I didn’t read far enough into the material) and would like to encourage everyone to join another campaign here on The Point. Make Hemp A National Issue needs our support to raise awareness about the benefits of growing industrial hemp. http://www.thepoint.com/campaigns/make-hemp-a-national-issue/
For those of us who wish to stay informed about the issue, I discovered a great website that is loaded with information and resources on industrial hemp:
http://www.votehemp.com/index.html/
Lets make industrial hemp a national issue in 2009 and empower farmers with environmentally sound options!

Katherine Katulski replied on Nov 19, 2008Wait – no one wants to pollinate your plants. Anyways, the plants you’re talking about need their own grow-room. Hemp cloth is better than cotton because it doesn’t need a lot of pesticides and herbicides to bring to harvest, is easier to harvest and is finer than cotton. It’s also negatively charged so it jives better with our physiology.
