OBJECTIVE
Live in San Jose, Costa Rica to research communication between sustainable development organizations
TERMS

If we reach at least $1,000 by February 15, 2009, then We will give money to: Nuestra Voz, Inc.

THE PITCH

We began this project because of our shared belief that community and relationships are as crucial for organizations as for individuals. Many development organizations in the world struggle to secure basic organizational resources and we think that social networking tools can help.

We’re creating an internet-based network of organization leaders and university experts. The purpose is to facilitate relationships and help build organizational capacity. Sustainable development organizations in Costa Rica will be our pilot project, and we’ll work from there to incorporate other areas.

To succeed, we need to research existing organizations, the organizational culture, and the relationships between organizations. We’re traveling to Costa Rica for 4-6 months to work personally with organizational leaders as we build a network to meet their needs.

This campaign is primarily a way for you, our friends, to support us. Shout outs, pictures, or stick figure drawings are also welcome.

Hi, I hope you’ve had a chance to visit our blog since we’ve arrived in Costa Rica. If not check it out at www.nvov.org/blog

We’d like to have a good address for you to send postcards and stuff. Would you mind emailing your current postal address to jeellis2@gmail.com?

Thanks!

First of all, everyone please give our website a visit at www.nvov.org, Ari has put a ton of time into it and its looking pretty darn good if I do say so.

Here’s the skinny, it’s going to Cost us about $1000 a month to survive on rice and beans (maybe an occasional mango) down there in San Jose. All our eggs aren’t in one basket, we’re going no matter what thanks to some support from the University of Illinois and our research advisers. But you, our friends, can help us out a lot by donating enough money to keep us down there for another month to get this thing right.

On another note, I know that many of us aren’t in a position to be providing financial support. I can’t tell you how much we appreciate all forms of support, it’s a bunch though. So send what you’ve got, encouraging note, lucky rock, a picture of you eating something other than rice and beans to make us jealous, love it. Can’t wait to see you again!

Thanks everyone so much for your support! It really is a great feeling to be leaving the country in about 8 hours knowing that we have so much support here, this has been a heck of a send off for us.

We can’t wait to send you all some updates on our progress and are looking forward to staying in touch, don’t forget to visit the blog at www.nvov.org and say ‘HI’.

Again, thank you for giving what you can and for your thoughts, we’re blessed to have such a generous group of friends. We’re going to do our part now and develop this vision for at least 4 months in Costa Rica.

Lots of love,
Justin & Ari
