There are so many irresponsible pet owners who simply will not spay & neuter their pets…everyone seems to love a cute little kitten, but once grown – a lot are abandoned; leaving them to face the “elements” on their own, which unfortunately leads to more unwanted & unloved innocent creatures. It is NOT their fault! It absolutely grieves my heart that there are so many homeless cats who are hungry, afraid, injured – with almost no hope of any type of decent survival. Please be a responsible pet owner…spay & neuter your pet.

Vicki Van Etten replied on Oct 20, 2008Hi Nancy. Thank you for your comments. Just got back to town and it was nice to see a response on my new campaign.
The pet owners are only a bit of the problem Most people mean well I have found, but some are either ignorant of the consequences, or too poor to have spay and neuter done.
One of the things I would love to help create here is a free, mobile spay and neuter program, as well as much more pro bono volunteer vet care. It takes a community to solve the feral cat overpopulation problem. It takes commitment and it takes a capacity for tolerance and deep compassion and respect for the critters we share our planet with. Tall order!
Most of us do the best we can, with what we have at the time. Anyone else out there have any comments/ideas/suggestions (or of course, donations!?)
Peace, Vicki

Nancy Fields replied on Oct 20, 2008So true….here in Pinellas County Florida, if a person is on “disability”, i.e. food stamps, medicaid, etc.; Pinellas County Animal Services will spay or neuter your pet at no charge. I believe they will do 2 in a lifetime. They also provide the shots at a greatly reduced cost.
Your idea sounds great. Transportation is certainly a problem for many people. We only have 1 car and I wind up taking my husband to work if I have any appointments! We might not have much, but I feel very blessed.
It is simply WONDERFUL to hear from another advocate for our innocent animals..
God Bless, Nancy

Samantha Aungle replied on Jan 15, 2009I am a holistic animal healer and have years of experience volunteering with the RSPCA – Australia. I also owned an ex street cat who was abandoned by his owner. He haunted the streets where he used to live as the owner moved away without taking him or surrender to the shelter or a friend. he was desexed beyond the age of 18 months so he developed a big head. And also developed a few litters unless the female strays or other cats in the area were all neutered! I fully support your campaign in its objectives!!
I think your campaign is great! At present I have limited funds myself, and I am trying to start my humanist charity for holistic health support to the poor. Search Samantha Aungle for the charity link. I am also needing startup funds. Your campaign has delivered a very direct statement which inspires and motivates me to edit my campaign message and just be honest about where I am financially with the fund startup costs!
Have a great day and good luck!
blessed be
