THE PITCH

My community is overrun with feral(wild) and abandoned cats and kittens. Shelters are full, and even well-meaning shelters end up killing perfectly healthy cats for “lack of space.” I am committed to no killing of any animal save a true mercy euthanasia of a hopelessly sick or injured animal.

I have a colony of cats which I feed, love and care for, and need a place to house them, as well as supplies and people to help with adoptions and spay/neutering and vet care.

It is difficult to solicit donations on a regular basis without being able to offer a tax-deduction. To do this, I must apply to the IRS for tax-exempt status of my Arizona Corporation, “TLCCats, Inc.” It costs $300.00 to apply.

I need help from those willing to donate any amount, so I can submit the application with the $300.00 and start soliciting for donations for care of the cats. I am going broke and am health-challenged, but committed to the no-kill philosophy and I need your help. God bless you for caring .

There are so many irresponsible pet owners who simply will not spay & neuter their pets…everyone seems to love a cute little kitten, but once grown – a lot are abandoned; leaving them to face the “elements” on their own, which unfortunately leads to more unwanted & unloved innocent creatures. It is NOT their fault! It absolutely grieves my heart that there are so many homeless cats who are hungry, afraid, injured – with almost no hope of any type of decent survival. Please be a responsible pet owner…spay & neuter your pet.

Hi Nancy. Thank you for your comments. Just got back to town and it was nice to see a response on my new campaign.

The pet owners are only a bit of the problem Most people mean well I have found, but some are either ignorant of the consequences, or too poor to have spay and neuter done.

One of the things I would love to help create here is a free, mobile spay and neuter program, as well as much more pro bono volunteer vet care. It takes a community to solve the feral cat overpopulation problem. It takes commitment and it takes a capacity for tolerance and deep compassion and respect for the critters we share our planet with. Tall order!

Most of us do the best we can, with what we have at the time. Anyone else out there have any comments/ideas/suggestions (or of course, donations!?)

    Peace, Vicki

So true….here in Pinellas County Florida, if a person is on “disability”, i.e. food stamps, medicaid, etc.; Pinellas County Animal Services will spay or neuter your pet at no charge. I believe they will do 2 in a lifetime. They also provide the shots at a greatly reduced cost.

Your idea sounds great. Transportation is certainly a problem for many people. We only have 1 car and I wind up taking my husband to work if I have any appointments! We might not have much, but I feel very blessed.

It is simply WONDERFUL to hear from another advocate for our innocent animals..

    God Bless, Nancy
