I am very passionate about dogs and I feel that it is my life’s goal to save as many as I can. There are too many that are put down at the county animal shelters, too many that roam the streets, too many that have abusive homes. My neighbor & I have decided to open a non-profit No Kill Shelter. In order to achieve this, the shelter will run strictly on donations. We need the money to buy the land, kennels, food, beds, toys, blankets and a vet. Our goal is to find these dogs a good home where they can be loved.
I started a campaign because I’ve had this passion for dogs all my life and it makes me sad and angry to see how these animals are treated. I also find it very disturbing to know that dogs are put down at the county shelters just because there isn’t any room for them. There are plenty of people that would love to adopt a dog but would you pay $800-$1000 for a puppy/dog in a pet store? Not me. They are in it for the money. I’m in it for the animal. I happen to find out that my neighbor is just as passionate. We’ve decided to open a No Kill Shelter to save the dogs from the county shelters, from the streets and from anywhere else where we know they need our help. We already have our non-profit status and are relying heavily on donations. Please help if you can, even if its a dollar. It all adds up.
We are looking for 3-5 acres of land and of course would love to have it donated. But if its not then the $5,000 could go towards the purchase. If someone happens to donate the land then the $5,000 would go towards housing the dogs, whether it be kennels with runs, portables that schools get rid of. What ever it takes to make the dogs comfortable.
Previously I mentioned tha $5,000 would go towards purchasing the land. The additional $5,000 needed will go towards building the kennels w/runs that go out into a big area. If there are any funds left over it will go towards dog food, pet beds, collars, veternarian, heating and A/C. We have already gotten our license from the State of Florida and will have our non-profit status within the next month.
This are moving along slowly but they’re moving. We had a story printed in the newspaper about our goals and passions for saving these animals. We started a google group for the people in our area to join so they can keep up with what we are doing and where we are with everything. This also allows them to make suggestions. We are putting together our first fundraiser which we hope to have by the end of November or the beginning of December. No one has offered to donate us any land yet and without that, we can’t move forward. Hopefully we can put a fundraiser together once a month and raise the money to buy 2-3 acres.
