- THE PITCH
-
Every time I buy shoes every single shoe in the store is clearly made in a sweat shop.
The few big companies that tried to hold out, like Converse & New Balance, have shipped almost all production abroad to remain competetive. To fight the race to the bottom, we must create a market for responsibly produced goods.
There are small companies making shoes responsibly, but they’re not in most stores & when I buy shoes online I often return them because they don’t fit right or they look differently than they did online.
I need to test my shoes before I buy them! I need to do my little test-walk & jump up like I’m catching a rebound before I know if I’ll like them. But I also want to feel good about my purchase.
I want a major shoe companies to move back to the US & make shoes with an exemplary code of conduct. Members who join this campaign pledge to buy from shoes the 1st major US company to do so. The more people join the more incentive the companies will have to change.
