Manny Montalvo replied on Feb 14, 2008This is a great campaign you have going here and I know it will work out. The legalization of this plant, which should not even be called a drug and I will explain in a moment, will do this country more good then harm. Look at it this way more doctors can prescribe, the government wont be spending billions trying to stop it but making billions just taxing it which can go into making schools better and a better heath care system, all those cops spending time on MJ drug busts they can be spent else ware, and we can make way more ethanol than we can make now. The pros outweigh the cons by a long shot.
Now to explain what I stated before, Mary Jane is not a drug it is a plant that if you so happen to set it on fire there are some effects. Drugs are something that you have to chemically alter and all that what not. (Katt Williams) I see this as truth don’t you.
The best thing about Mary Jane is that there are almost no long turm effects, except for the fact it stays in your system for up to 60 days, it hasn’t been found to cause cancer or linked to any diseases.
I think I’m done typing for the day later people.

Jillian Galloway replied on Feb 15, 2008Marijuana is the safest of ALL recreational drugs, including alcohol and tobacco. It does not kill or cause disease, and its “addiction” is trivial compared to that of alcohol and tobacco.
The prohibition on the other had kills. It literally destroys lives, it tears families apart, funds criminal organizations, increases taxes of nonusers and increases criminal activity in our communities. The prohibition is all costs, not a single person’s life is improved by all the arrests and all the misery caused by the enforcement actions. END THE PROHIBITION!!!

John Doe replied on Feb 15, 2008Announcement: The questionnaire seems to be broken or misguiding, and to Nathan: no I was not high, I don’t want to point any fingers but I believe this may be a error on the developers’ end. I’ve requested to have this fixed.
The questionnaire should read:
Do you think jail time is necessary for posession of Marijuana?
Do you believe Marijuana should be illegal? (most people answer have answered Yes, which is obviously wrong)
Have you ever used Marijuana?
Has Marijuana affected your life?
Please elaborate on the previous answer.

Kylie Rodgers replied on May 19, 2008The medicinal effects of marijuana outweigh any of alcohol which is the leading drug to cause brain damage hmm interesting, the only problem if it is legalized then the government will have a hand in the costs and taxing users, the prices will rise such as tobacco.

Grace Watkins replied on May 28, 2008I personally have used, but even if I didnt use, I still think it should be legalized.

Jon Benson replied on Aug 15, 2008Before changing the law – you first have to change “WASHINGTON”. Until those we have elected, get the message (loud and clear) – “WE THE PEOPLE” own this country and set the laws that are put in place. AMERICAN’s need to re-read the Constitution and the Declaration of Independence. Two important documents that state, very clearly, “WE THE PEOPLE” – by majority – are to set the laws, freedoms, privledges, as well as the everyday buisness being conducted in America.
“WE THE PEOPLE”, by majority, are suppose to “ELECT” those qualified candidates who we feel will do the best job for America. However, “WE THE PEOPLE” continue to fail as “OWNERS”, by allowing those “WE’VE ELECTED” to ignore the interests of The United States of America and “WE THE PEOPLE” – and instead just look after their own best interests.
They can deny it all they want, but facts are facts and our country is heading down a steep slope that we may never come back out of. Social Security – Soon will be broke and millions of American’s will be really screwed when they reach retirement age. What will you do? Our national debt is so large now, it will take us decades to get under control. What is our “elected officials” doing about (just these two things) these major problems we’re facing? Spending more and more money on programs that American’s, if given a vote on them, would never waste their money on them – when so many other programs need serious attention. Get involved people. My website “take5america.com” is devoted to bringing American’s the information they need to know and MOST IMPORTANTLY – getting “WE THE PEOPLE” to take 5 minutes (just 5 minutes) out of their busy day – to call your Congressman/Senator/President and tell them – NO MORE – EITHER DO THE JOB “WE THE PEOPLE” ELECTED YOU TO DO – OR WE WILL FIND SOMEONE TO REPLACE YOU. Just be as respectful as possible, when talking with them. Otherwise, whoever you are speaking with, will quit taking you seriously and blow you off. You don’t have to tell them they’re an asshole or an idiot – just tell them that “WE THE PEOPLE” elected you to look after our best interests and you expect them to do just that – otherwise, next time you go to the polls, you will no longer support them and will do your best to ensure that they are no longer “elected” to look after America and it’s citizens.
DO AWAY WITH THE TWO PARTY SYSTEM. Although it was 200 plus years ago, when John Adams said, “The two party system will be the death of our government”, it is not too late to learn from those valuable words. END THE TWO PARTY SYSTEM. DO NOT VOTE FOR ANYBODY WHO IS CURRENTLY HOLDING AN OFFICE WITHIN OUR GOVERNMENT – and then – DON’T VOTE FOR ANY REPUBLICAN OR ANY DEMOCRAT. Vote for an Independant Candidate or a Libertarian. Otherwise, you will just be voting for four more years of the same ineffective leadership that has plagued this country for years and years. Four more years of, those you’ve elected, conducting their business (not with the ideal of Right and Wrong) – but setting policy, according to whatever party you belong to. If you are a Republican – then you are against whatever the Democrats are for. A Democrat – against anything the Republicans are for. What happended to what is best for the United States of America?
This whole system is designed to fail and “WE THE PEOPLE” continue to support it. What if we lived in a world where all men believed they had the correct answers for all the worlds problems and all the woman felt they had the right solutions – and that all men were just idiots? How could we survive as a people, with men and women as a hole believing that way? WE COULDN’T – YET, SOMEHOW WE KEEP SUPPORTING THAT SAME CRAZY MENTALITY CONCERNING OUR GOVERNMENT.
1) DON’T VOTE FOR ANYBODY CURRENTLY HOLDING A GOVERNMENT ‘ELECTED’ OFFICE.
2) VOTE FOR AN INDEPENDENT OR A LIBERTARIAN.
3) END THE TWO PARTY SYSTEM.
4) QUIT BUYING THE LIES WASHINGTON KEEPS SELLING. REMEMBER, EVEN THOUGH YOU MAY NOT BUY THE LIE, ALLOWING IT TO CONTINUE IS EVEN WORSE – IT PROVIDES A OPEN DOOR TO WASHINGTON TO CONTINUE.
5. TAKE 5 MINUTES A DAY – WRITE OR CALL YOUR ELECTED OFFICIALS. MAKE SURE THAT THEY UNDERSTAND WHO THEY WORK FOR AND THAT THEY WILL BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR THEIR ACTIONS – JUST LIKE ANY CITIZEN LIVING IN AMERICA – NO MORE GET OUT OF JAIL FREE CARDS.
6. DEMAND A 40 HOUR WORK WEEK. IF THEY FEEL THEY NEED TO CAMPAIGN – THEY CAN DO IT ON THEIR OWN TIME – JUST AS EACH AND EVERY ONE OF US WOULD HAVE TO DO.
7. DEMAND THAT OUR PRESIDENT BE AUTHORIZED THE “LINE ITEM VETO”. WE HAVE GOT TO END THESE “MOST IMPORTANT BILLS”, BEING STUFFED WITH 1500 PLUS “EARMARK BILLS” THAT WOULD NEVER BE PASSED ON THEIR OWN MERIT (COSTING AMERICANS BILLIONS EVERY YEAR).
8. DEMAND THAT “WE THE PEOPLE” BE GIVEN THE RIGHT TO VOTE FOR OUR “U.S. SENATORS”. What business owner would ever allow part of his/her management team to ever have the power to stay in their position, no matter how poorly they perform. “WE THE PEOPLE” CAN ELECT OUR PRESIDENT, BUT NOT OUR U.S. SENATOR’S?
9. DEMAND THAT OUR MEDIA GIVE “EQUAL” ATTENTION TO ALL CANDIDATES RUNNING FOR OFFICE, NOT JUST WHO THEY WANT ON THE TICKET. “BOB BARR” IS A PERFECT EXAMPLE OR THIS. HE IS NOT A REPUBLICAN OR A DEMOCRAT. HE IS A AMERICAN, FIRST, AND A BUSINESS MAN SECOND.
10. DEMAND THAT THIS COUNTRY BE GIVEN BACK TO “WE THE PEOPLE”.

Mark O'Keeffe replied on Oct 16, 2008The “War on Drugs” is not only a failure, but it is the real crime here. Marijuana is HARMLESS, and in many cases it is MEDICINE.
It costs $24,000.00 a year to incarcerate 1 pot smoker. We are in the midst of a recession – at least, and quite possibly a depression.
We are a capitalist society and the bottom line is always the dollar. Legalisation will create 100,000 jobs and inject $50 million dollars into our economy EVERY YEAR!!!
There is no good reason for pot to be illegal. It is absolutely STUPID and UNAMERICAN for pot to remain illegal. But then again, we are in the midst of the “dumbing down of America”. After all, look at who occupies the white house and at who put him there.
People need to stop fearing the government and be active on this issue. We have the power to change unjust laws, and this law is UNJUST!!!

Haylenaw Gizaw replied on Oct 22, 2008I completly support the Idea of legalizing marijuana as long as somebody comes up with a plan on how to tax it.
-
James Boyle replied on Oct 25, 2008Im in the younger groups of people and yes i use it…but not to rebel or anything like that…i think marijuana should be TOTALY legalized taxed and set at an age limit just like cigerettes. Ive talked to ALL my friends on this issue, and yes ive herd both sides to the story but generally people want it legalized, both tokers and non-tokers.
