The first time we offered a Groupon to Manny's Coffee Shop & Deli, we sold out of 500 within an hour. Manny's Owner Ken Raskin said of the goldrush on his cornbeef: "On the date of our feature, Manny’s was the talk of the town! The only complaints came from those who didn't visit the site in time to buy their Groupon!"
If you were one of the people who complained to Raskin last time, get in early on today's Groupon so he doesn't have to field your complaints. Today's deal gets you even more value: $10 buys you a $25 Groupon for dinner at Manny's. One Groupon is plenty to cover dinner for you and a friend, or grab two and head down to 1141 S. Jefferson St. to buy dinner for the entire family.
An Obama favorite, Manny's is a 67-year-old, down-to-earth, family-run cafeteria-style Jewish deli. Its delicious, affordable, and super-sized sandwiches—the corned beef, brisket, pastrami—are well known to true Chicagoans and members of the secret organization known as Brothers United for Cured Meats (BUCM). Dinner at Manny's is every bit as good as lunch is, and even includes additional entrees you can't get at lunch! Choose from a whole list of hot entrees: baked salmon, short ribs, beef stew, skirt steak, chicken in the pot, and more. The servings are big, so bring a big appetite.
Whether you’ve been to the Sears Tower or Wrigley is insignificant. If you want to be a true Chicagoan, you have to experience Manny's.
Reviews
Chicago publications love Manny's. Time Out Chicago calls it "Chicago’s most quintessential restaurant." Metromix says, "A South Side institution, Manny's serves delicatessen foods with sass."
Chicagoans love Manny's too. A hundred sixty-two Yelpers have given Manny's a near-perfect 4.5 stars. What are they saying?
- "Walking into Manny's occasionally feels like time travel. Not only do the men behind the cafeteria counter bark at their customers with a friendly sort of intentional theatricality, but there are also very few places around the city where one can expect to find virtually every walk of Chicago life sitting down to enjoy a meal in the same place, if not together." – R. J. H.
- "Few places in my book are well deserving of 5 stars. In fact, I love this place so much, that if you ever need a friend to go with - please do call me - I will come with. wink As for the food - UNBELIEVABLE. Its [sic] not Moto - its [sic] not David Burke's Prime House - its [sic] down to earth, simple, cafeteria style deliciousness. Its [sic] the kinda place you eagerly drive out of your way for. – Nicholas H.
- I'm wowed and amazed that I have never been here before. What have I been missing? A LOT!" – julie f.

Scott Sachnoff replied on Jun 10, 2009I can understand why it would be limited to dinner since lunch their busiest time but why make it expire so soon? Most restaurant Groupons are good for a calendar year.

Andrew Gasca replied on Jun 10, 2009Question? Restrictions include dinner only. Does that mean you can only order from the dinner menu or can you also get their world famous sandwiches
-
Cassie C replied on Jun 10, 2009Hi,
You are able to order anything you want, you just need to go within the dinner time frame (4-8pm).

Cassie C replied on Jun 10, 2009Hi Scott,
You are completely right, many restaurant Groupons don’t expire for a year, but it is dependent on what we negotiate with each individual business.
This Groupon expires 9/11/2009. Hopefully you will be able to find a time that is convenient to visit Manny’s before September. And really- are you going to wait all the way until September to go get your delicious deli food? I bet you won’t be able to wait more than a week :-)
Best,

Daniel Garcia replied on Jun 11, 2009ahh… but don’t forget the college students that are not chicago natives, we get roughly 2 weeks to use the groupons, from the time classes commence.

Cassie C replied on Jun 11, 2009Hi Daniel,
You are right, if you are a student you will have less time to use this Groupon since you may be away for the summer. If you have a situation like that, it is always good to think about how convenient it will be for you to use a Groupon, and if you think it will be hard for you to use it before it expires then I would consider not buying it.
Best,
Cassie Cohen

Daniel Garcia replied on Jun 11, 2009Him Cassie
oh but do not not underestimate the college student appettite, 2 weeks should be plenty of time for me at least. If for some reason I find it unlikely to use a groupon that is a great deal then… well if it is such a great it should not be complicated for me to find someone else around campus that will be able to use it, no problem.

P.S. in any case, this is not one that I shall let pass by.
