There are hybrid sedans, pick-up trucks, and SUVs – but why aren’t there any hybrid minivans in the US yet? Minivans are the most popular mode of transportation in the suburbs. Parents spend countless hours driving their kids around to school, soccer games, stores. Many want to save money on gas and reduce emissions – while also safely driving their kids around. Small hybrids don’t accommodate strollers, sports gear, or carpooling (very green) and aren’t the safest. SUVs don’t work well for carpooling. Minivans offer safe, spacious transport for kids, and there should be hybrid versions on the market! Suburban living is one of the biggest contributors to global warming. Let’s bring hybrid minivans to the suburbs.
I’ll make this campaign known to hybrid automakers like Honda and Toyota, which already sells a hybrid minivan in Japan. Toyota hasn’t said when, or if, it will bring it to the US.
