Think of all the moments in life where being an excellent dancer could totally open doors for you. If only you had the skills taught at Intrigue Dance, you could show them off in a variety of social contexts to your great benefit:
- Cutting in line at the amusement park normally garners scowls, but cutting in line while performing ballet pirouettes generates applause.
- At a job interview, your resume and cover letter make great lyrics to a song and jazz dance routine (punctuated with white-gloved jazz hands) that will surely get you hired.
- When getting mugged, a Beyoncé-inspired hip-hop dance routine actually doubles as a defense tactic: your bizarrely hypnotic pelvic motions entrance muggers and your steely hair serves as a mace-whip.
There's so much cool stuff you're going to be able to do, but first you have to learn the moves. Good thing today's Groupon lets you do that for 54% off.
About Intrigue Dance
Today's Groupon gets you 10 dance classes at Intrigue Dance & Performing Arts Center for $60 (that's 54% off a $130 value). Located in the South Loop at 1234 Michigan Ave., Intrigue offers a wide variety of classes for all levels of dancers. Whether you're a seasoned pro looking to take a class or you just want to try something new and fun, Intrigue has something for you.
All classes are taught by accomplished instructors who provide individualized attention, giving you the best dance for your dollar. (Side note: owner Pia Hamilton played Min on Barney & Friends until 1999, when the show was canceled after producers decided that Barney, played by David Alan Grier, demanded too much money.)
Discover the rhythms lying dormant in your hips and your heart. Let it loose through your extremities. Feel great, lose weight, and impress your date. To maximize the fun, sign up with friends so you can start your own dance troupe; pretty soon, you’ll all be hired to perform at dance-centric celebrations, such as Bar Mitzvahs, Bat Mitzvahs, and Flag Day.
Reviews
Three Yelpers give Intrigue Dance an average 4.5 stars—one reviewer loves it so much that she gave it a perfect five stars twice. Here's they have to say:
- I love the location of this studio! I came to check out the hip hop class and got an awesome workout... It was a very small class with only 2 of us plus the instructor which was nice. Definitely more one on one attention and the class moves at a faster pace with less students. – Linda N.
- What a great studio! Great location at Roosevelt & Michigan not too far from the Orange, Red & Green line trains...Studio space is a good [sic] and sound system was good as well. I took the beginner/intermediate ballet class with Pia (the owner who is so friendly!) and there were only 2 other people in the class. Pia gave lots of personal attention and I had a GREAT workout in the hour long class. I will definitely go back and have been telling my dancer friends about the studio as well! – Robyn T.
- I will definitely be back. They have everything from ballet, tap, jazz to cardio striptease! Great way to try a variety of dance. (Also, have children's classes.) – Jen M.

I didn’t see a per-person limit. Can I buy more than one for myself?

Brynne Schmitt replied on Jul 1, 2009I’m very confused – it doesn’t say anywhere in the groupon ad or on the coupon itself that these classes must be used within 3 months of activation? It wasn’t included in the fine print – when was this rule activated? I live locally but have a very busy work schedule and wouldn’t have purchased mine if I knew that 10 classes must be used in 90 days… that’s quite a difficult task.

Pia Hamilton Intrigue Dance and Performing Arts Cente replied on Jul 1, 2009Hi Brynne,
As we stated earlier on the discussion board, our ten class cards last for 90 days. If you have a situation where it might be a problem to use it within this time frame, we definitely understand and will work with you on an individual basis- just let us know when you first come in about your situation, and we will be happy to work with you on this…
thanks
Pia

L H replied on Oct 22, 2009Hi guys,
Please be careful – Intrigue is NOT being accommodating at all on extending the 3-month period, as they originally said they would (and flat-out lied on the phone about knowing this was an issue up front). Apparently they still need to identify the acceptable “grace period”, even though it sounds like they had already done that in July.
Best of luck,
Laura

Pia Hamilton Intrigue Dance and Performing Arts Cente replied on Oct 22, 2009Dear Laura,
On behalf of Intrigue Dance & Performing Arts Center, I apologize for any inconvence towards the use of the 10 class-card. We understand that there was an issue with Groupon not typing out the fine print about the expiration date on the card. We have been trying to help solve this matter and compromise with our customers, However, we have not “changed” our extension grace policy on this matter, as we have tried to extend the class cards on a per-situation basis…I am sorry if this was not made clear to you. Anyone that needs an extension is more than welcome to email or call directly and speak to myself (Pia, the owner) or one of our assistants can call you back within 24 hours with our approval. Please look back to the comment I made three months ago about this matter and that comment still stands, we are more than happy to work with you on an individual basis. Thanks
Pia

Hi Groupies,
We wanted to let you clear up any confusion or concerns you might have about the redemption terms of this Groupon.
Although all of the 10 classes covered by this Groupon are technically supposed to be used within 3 months of its activation (meaning the first time you go), we have worked out an agreement with Intrigue where they have generously agreed to allow you to spread out your dance classes during a time period longer than 3 months as long as you discuss it with them beforehand. You will just need to make sure to use all 10 of your dance classes before the expiration date.
Our sincerest apologies for any confusion,
Your Buddies at Groupon
