First time using The Point?
This campaign has a tipping point -- you pledge money now, but you’re only charged if the total pledges reach $9,800. This way, you know your participation will make a difference. See how else you can make something happen on The Point.

THE PITCH

h1.Tired of seeing all those great, but expensive blogging and social media conferences everywhere else but Indiana?

h2.You can help change that starting today!

A small group of local bloggers have been tossing around the idea of holding an Indiana bloggers conference for some time. It’s time to either make it happen or forget about it.

The biggest hurdles? Initial funding and initial interest. That is why we have decided to use ThePoint.com to rally support for this great idea. If you are interested in attending the conference, all you need to do is sign-up and agree to pay the steeply discounted registration cost ONLY if we get 200 people to sign up. That’s right, if there is not enough interest and we fall short of our goal of 200 early registrations, you don’t pay a dime.

h3.Here are the big picture details:

Sorry for the long gap in updates, but the past month has been quite busy for our little/big idea. We were able to land the IU School of Informatics as our title sponsor and have a date, location, speakers and sessions (a lot can happen in a month or so).

Because of this, we must abandon this ThePoint campaign. We have opened up registration so you can buy your tickets right now. You will NOT be charged by ThePoint for anything. After about a week, we will close this campaign.

Please, head over to http://conference.blogindiana.com to check out all the details. And, if you can make it, get your ticket while you can! You are among the first to be notified of the new website and tickets being on sale.

Thanks again for your early support of this project. You’ve helped us keep moving. And, thanks to ThePoint.com for providing an awesome platform.

If you have any questions, feel free to email me at noah@blogindiana.com.

Thanks again and look forward to seeing you in August!!

Senior soccer pitches provided by the local authority will be concentrated on multi-pitch sites where quality changing and sustainable maintenance can be provided.

Has anyone here reached out to this group and, if not, why not?

    Hi Phil!

In its heyday the IBR was a must-read, pointing to a lot of good stuff from blogs around the state.

Unfortunately, its editor, Abdul Hakim Shabazz, has gotten into some hot water with local officials: http://ruthholladay.com/index.php?blog=1&title=…

Something about potential criminal recklessness and possibly posting police informant information on a blog.

OK let’s try that link again…

Blogged at www.squaredpeg.com and blog.bradjward.com and twittered it as well. Hoping that some of my higher ed colleagues will make the drive in for this conference.

Thanks, Brad! Every person that pledges is one step closer toward our goal of making this conference a reality.

I’m peripherally interested in this, as long as the time frame is right.

One question: is there a deadline date for pre-registration? In other words, at what point does one have to make a pre-registration commitment before the idea gets scrapped entirely?

    Hi Jason,

Thanks for the question. We are working on sponsorship deals with some local companies and educational entites which will influence our setting of a deadline for registraiton.

Personally, I like March 15, 2008. Of course, this is totally arbitrary and off the top of my head. The real date will be determined after hearing from our potential sponsors.
