THE PITCH

I had a newly constructed home built in 2001 and because of related legal fees have been unable to finish my house. The drywall is done and painted and that is it. The problem is the builder and town were released from responsibility by the appeals court even though the house was constructed in violation of the town building codes. Because the code enforcer signed off on the certificate of occupancy the home was said to meet building codes. The code enforcement officer even gave a ficticiuos affidavit that it met building codes. The house is constructed in the water table and my sump pump runs continuously and because of the constant water flow and erosion under the foundation I am worried about eventual foundation collapse not to mention the electric bill to run the sump pumps. By raising the house and filling in the basement to the level of the water table I hope to make this home habitable for a future generation. I have no means of reversing the appeals court decision.
