OBJECTIVE
Convince Gary Coleman to Make a Noise Record
TERMS

If we reach at least $5,000, then We will be able to pay Gary Coleman to make a noise record.

THE PITCH

Gary Coleman is the person least likely to make a noise album. In addition to his money woes, he recently starred in a film that he absolutely hates. I want to be able to pay Gary a modest fee, in addition to a generous share of the profits, to use his voice and likeness in an abstract music project. I have two labels interested in releasing this record, and have spoken to someone who knows Gary about his rates. He will want at least $5K, but the total desired amount and terms are unspecified at this time, so I may still end up spending a few thousand dollars out of pocket to record and produce this album, which ideally would be released as a vinyl pressing. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks for the support, guys. I just want to give a quick explanation for why this isn’t happening. The very same day I posted this to my Facebook site, a few people wrote to me to let me know that various DJs were already trashing the project publicly in various music forums. I’m not usually one to let others dictate what music I make, but I hadn’t even begun hashing out a deal with Gary. I was informed by our mutual friend that he would require at least $5,000 up front. There is still a good chance that I would have spent a considerable amount of my own money, and frankly my time and resources are better used creating my own music to give away for free, which I have been doing a great deal of over the past several years. I don’t feel the need to constantly defend my work, and yet that is precisely what some of these people expect of me. If I can get Mr. Coleman to make a record for a major share of the profits, I will. However, I would prefer to have this go down without having to beg for money. Thanks for your interest, and many apologies.

I closed the campaign, “Help Pay Gary Coleman to Make a Noise Record”.

I was being called an opportunist by DJs who like to follow me around the Internet, and I’d rather just continue making noncommercial music for the rest of my life.

Thanks for your pledge. Sorry it didn’t work out.
