Help an Independent Musician Record!

Hey everyone,

Just wanted to let my financier angels know about recording plans for my new album “Light Year”.

The $650 we raised will go to recording drums and bass for the album, on Saturday March 22 at Electrical Recording, engineered by Greg Norman. Drums will be by John Knecht, an amazing Chicago musician who incorporates African, Caribbean and Indian drumming into his work, and bass by Josh Stewart, whose elegant and subtle bass lines I’m quite excited about. (Josh will also contribute cello to the album.)

I am funding with my own $ later recording in April at CarterCo Recoring, a great little studio in Pilsen. Here I’ll record voice, guitars, cello, and pianos.

After that, it’s all about adding final touches at home, mixing and mastering, and duplicating the CD. (Know any cool artists who might do album cover art for me? Let me know!)

I should be able to send everyone rough mixes by August 2008, and a real CD by Sept/Oct 2008. I hope to have a CD release party somewhere in Chicago…if anyone knows of a good venue that is open to an up and coming girl like myself, please let me know!

My CD release show is Saturday, January 17 at Uncommon Ground on Devon (1401 W. Devon) in Chicago. I’ll be playing an hour-long set with songs from the album, with my band backing me up. The show starts at 10 pm. Please make a reservation around 9ish if you’d like a table (or else you can stand, there will be enough room, I’m sure.) Their number is: 773 465 9801.

Thanks to everyone again for helping me make this happen. The album is being mixed right now and is about to enter the mastering phase. I have started a new campaign to raise money for duplication (hey it worked the 1st time around!!!) If you’d like to donate, please type in “independent musician” in the search box to find it.
