THE PITCH

Mother's Day is Sunday, May 10: That’s soon. This year, don't scramble at the last minute to come up with some pathetic expression of your love (as Mr. Groupon did last year with an ill-advised, home-made floral bouquet of carved Portabello mushrooms with pipe cleaner stems). Instead, buy the Groupon deal of the day for half-off flowers at EC Florist. For just $25 you get $50 worth of beautiful, professionally assembled floral bouquets. With this 50% discount, you'll appear to love your mother twice as much as you actually do.

Your mother brought you into this world, and she can take you out of it - so check out EC's Mother's Day flowers. Most featured bouquets are around or under $50, so your Groupon will cover the cost. The Dancing Butterflies Bouquet, which is real purty and comes in a nice little basket, usually costs $47.95 - but holders of the magical Groupon. pay just $25, which leaves a few bucks to put towards some of EC's gift package-enhancing balloons, chocolates or stuffed animals.

For all you miracle births who emerged spontaneously and motherlessly from the sea, there are still many occasions for you to take advantage of today's Groupon. EC is family-owned and operated, and they know how to celebrate family-related occasions like anniversaries, new babies, and much more. Check out EC's wide range of thematic bouquets:

Delivery costs are not included in today's Groupon, but you can pick up your flowers at EC's convenient 224 Washington location in Brookline. Of course, for a reasonable $7.50 (delivery policy) you can have your bouquet shipped to anywhere in Brookline, Metro Boston, South Bay, Newton, Watertown, Brighton or Dedham.

That's about it for today's deal. So get your Groupon, but not before reading the caution advisory and floral ownership tips below.

CAUTION: Do not take this Groupon lightly, because flower ownership is a great responsibility. If you're concerned that you're not cut out for floral upkeep, then read EC Florist's About Flowers page for helpful tips on keeping your flowers alive. There you'll learn that you can't just treat your flower like a pet - they're entirely different organisms. For instance, unlike your cat, flowers prefer drinking water to coffee, and sunlight to windowless cages.

Having read EC's guidelines, if you determine that you're qualified to own a flower, but are new to the social practices associated with floral gifts, Groupon has come up with some creative ideas to use your flowers.

Great ways to use flowers:

  • Show your mother how much you love her this Mother's Day.
  • Make a good impression on someone you admire.
  • Cheer up a friend who is having a bad week.
  • Send them anonymously to your secret crush, then hide under their desk in a bear costume. When the flowers are delivered, jump out and growl, "I sent you those flowers because I have an unBEARable crush on you!" Then take off your heavy bear head mask to receive a kiss of gratitude.
  • Tell everyone at work that you've been dating J-Lo. Then buy a nice bouquet with your Groupon and have them delivered to your office. On the provided gift message, give yourself a really sexy compliment and sign it, “Luv J-Lo.” Show everyone the note and say, "You see, this proves beyond a shadow of a doubt that J-Lo is mine."
  • Put your bouquet on a serving tray at a potluck and tell everyone that they are “those new edible flowers.” Watch guests eat the flowers, and after a while confess to them that they're just the normal kind of flowers.

I just bought this groupon and just realized this is not a national chain. Can I have flowers sent to San Francisco using this groupon?

  • Joe Harrow

    Hi,

This deal is only for the Brookline location, pick up only. You are welcome to arrange your own delivery, but shipping flowers from Boston to San Francisco might not be the most efficient way to do it (even with this great discount!). If you would like to cancel this order, just send me an email to groupon@thepoint.com and I’ll take care of it.

    Best,

    Joe (from Groupon)

I just emailed you…thank you very much.

  • Heya,

I bought this coupon and it pulled through, but the campaign no longer exists in my Inbox. Was it cancelled?

  • Joe Harrow

    Hi Annette,

Unfortunately we had some problems with this vendor honoring this Groupon and we were forced to cancel the campaign. We have issued full refunds to everyone who made this purchase.

Sorry you are just finding out about this now. We sent an email to everyone who had purchased this Groupon last Thursday when we canceled it, but the email must have not gotten through.

Let me know if you have any further questions or if there is anything else I can help with. Right now we are running this similar deal to try to satisfy your flower needs: http://www.groupon.thepoint.com/boston/half-off-at-tinys-flowers

    Best,

    Joe (from Groupon)
