If they do this I think they will lose more than 50k members, myself included. Consistency is nice and looks much more professional than widely varying appearances, even if they all look fine on their own.

Look. We appreciate that Facebook doesn’t look all stupid like Myspace pages almost always do. And we don’t need to see tiled backgrounds of little angels everywhere. But c’mon, these profiles are as stale as a dentist’s office. Wouldn’t it be nice to add a little color? You’re gosh darn right it would be!
This is what we’re demanding: Facebook allow users to have a choice in the color of their profile. Users should be able to select from different profile skins and choose basic color schemes. At the same time, we want them to keep the profile pages looking neat and free of spam. It shouldn’t take too much to implement this kind of functionality….let’s show Facebook that the users want our basic unalienable American right to freedom of expression (via color profiles).

Aaron With replied on May 2, 2008Hi Jeremy
Thanks for the input. Like I said in the overview, we don’t want Facebook to start looking like Myspace. But I think there is a way to maintain consistency, nice design, and still allow a certain degree of color scheme variation. Does the picture here of the green profile look that unprofessional to you?

Clare Ondrey replied on Jul 7, 2008It’s not about leaving the site – it’s about making sure that Facebook knows what its members want. FB groups have huge numbers of people in them – but they don’t do anything, making them somewhat just for show.
Sending 50,000 FB messages will get a point across though!

Anonymous replied on Oct 25, 2008Seriosly, profiles are supposed to be individual, right? Plus, looking at the white screen for long periods of time is like staring at the google homepage for half an hour.
