For dozens of years, the Chinese have practiced acupuncture, a healing method that corrects imbalances by stimulating specific points on the body that help energy, or qi, to flow smoothly. During every visit, acupuncturists measure your qi pressure, which is similar to measuring your blood pressure except that inflatable thing is placed around your soul. Acupuncture will help reduce your dependence on medication for pain; plus, after you take all those needles out of your body, you'll finally have a utensil set for those little squares of cheese! Nancy Smith at Frederick Acupuncture knows acupuncture. It’s what she does. Her oldest patient is 354 years old.

Today's Groupon will bring you relief from the pain and stress of everyday life. For only $20, you get a $40 Groupon good toward a half-hour session of auricular or seated acupuncture at Frederick Acupuncture, located at 164 W. Main St., Ste. D, in New Market.

Acupuncture has been an integral part of traditional Chinese medicine for centuries and will help relieve a variety of ailments: migraines, back pain, anxiety, depression, insomnia, tendonitis, night sweats, arthritis, and much more. Just like heights and bats, acupuncture is misunderstood and feared by some. People who fear needles think acupuncture may be uncomfortable, but acupuncture needles are much slimmer than the needles used for injections (you usually can’t even feel when an acupuncture needle is inserted).

When you go to Frederick Acupuncture, you'll be in good hands. Nancy Smith, owner and operator, is a licensed acupuncturist and a registered nurse with extensive clinical experience. She became an acupuncturist after benefitting from acupuncture as a patient.

More Americans are turning to acupuncture for relief. Read this Business Gazette article that talks about its increasing popularity and features Smith and Frederick Acupuncture.

Patients who've seen Smith have wonderful things to say:

  • "The physical improvements after these sessions have been relief of chronic knee pain from an old injury, an increased peak flow and no exacerbations of asthma for the first time in 2 years, even though a very cold winter. In addition, I felt many subtle changes that are hard to even describe. In general felt as though [sic] I had a whole body tune up as well as a lightening up of an often too serious mind" – C.M.
  • "Nancy, this experience has made me more aware of myself and my place in the universe" – S.M.
  • "I believe the acupuncture is helping me become stronger in all of the aspects of my life..." – S.G.
