THE PITCH

Inspired by the dust bowl photographs of Dorothea Lang and Edward Weston from the Great Depression, I set out, with the support of a small team, to photograph the home foreclosure crisis of 2009.The whole nation seemed to be experiencing hardship and I wanted to find a way to connect with the devastation that was rolling across our country.

Now, I am trying to put together events of concerned citizens around these photographs. Renee De Cossio, curator of the SFMOMA Artists Gallery has agreed to host the first event. John Nagle, artistic director of Tidewater Gallery in Stockton, California will host the second. The photographs will serve as a foundation to engage the people that can insure we do not return to this national housing crisis again. The photographs will tour as many regions as possible – and will include workshops and informational sessions.
