If you bought this – beware! The Seadog website is VERY misleading. The calendars they have posted are what cruises they do. They DO NOT go daily. They DO NOT depart from DC – only from National Harbor. They only take reservations days prior to when you want to go over the phone. They do not take day of phone reservations.

In honor of the Washington Nationals' first-round draft-pick Stephen Strasburg, we set out to answer the age-old debate once and for all: Which is faster? A Strasburg fastball or a speedboat? After weeks of figuring out how to use a high-speed camera, we finally captured photographic evidence that hands down ends this debate:

With today's Groupon, $10 gets you a 45-minute speedboat and sightseeing tour with Seadog Cruises (a $20 value). Race along the water while enjoying DC's beautiful sights. Choose between two different Seadog Cruises:
- DC Monument tour: Head down the Potomac and tour the monuments from the water, including the Washington Monument, the Jefferson Memorial, and the Lincoln Memorial. Take this tour Tuesday through Friday.
- The National Harbor Tour: Leave National Harbor and go down the Potomac to learn about the Wilson Bridge, Old Town Alexandria, Jones Point Lighthouse, Fort Washington, and Mount Vernon. Take this tour any weekend.
Click here for detailed directions to departure points for either tour.
This is the perfect chance to show your friends and family the city in a whole new way by maximizing the number of attractions you can see in one tour. Seadog Cruises provides a fresh perspective on local attractions that even the oldest Washingtonian (Mary Higgins, 106) can appreciate. Don't miss out on a great deal on this exhilarating new way to see the city.
Reviews
Seadog Cruises is new to DC, but the company has been in Chicago for a while. Chicago Yelpers give it four stars. Here's what they'd want you to know:
- “All in all, it was interesting and fun. Our tour guide was humorous and gave interesting anecdotes of bits of info pertaining to the various buildings that are seen from the Chicago River.” – Ray C.
- “Its [sic] an awesome thing to do with a group of friends and they are actually very reasonably priced…” – Ren H.

Sarah Nichols replied on Aug 5, 2009I got this groupon, but was able to check their website for availability and then go to the National Harbor ticket office and exchange my coupons for tickets. They do depart from DC, but you have to watch the calendar very closely to find the date of the cruise. Unfortunately, our cruise was really boring, so I was glad that I only paid $10 per cruise and not full price.

Katrina Terry replied on Jan 4, 2010Hi,
I received the notice that seadog decided to stop their operations early. I promptly wrote to the e-mail address in the above message and asked them how to handle the unused groupons I had intended to use when my cousins came in the weekend before Halloween. I’ve written on 3 seperate occasions, and received absolutely no reply. As a result, I paid for groupons I was unable to use. What do I do from here?

Dear Groupies,
Thank you for taking part in Seadog’s Groupon this past summer. Due to cold weather forecasted in the coming weeks, Seadog has decided to cease operations for the Season. The colder weather has made cruising on our open-air vessel very uncomfortable. This is not the experience we wish for you.
If you have not used your Seadog Groupon, please call 866-933-9934 or email ressup@entertainmentcruises.com and they will be happy to assist you.
Thank you for your understanding in this matter.
