The nation’s second largest telecommunications provider AT&T and Cingular are complicit and endorse appalling and inhumane treatment of animals through corporate sponsorship of the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA).
These rodeos are billed as family events whose lifeline is continued and abetted through corporate sponsors. AT&T is leading the charge claiming to be the “exclusive wireless provider for the PRCA.” Numerous animal rights organizations and activists have documented the cruel treatment of animals and we encourage you to take a look at the evidence for yourself at this website provided by SHARK:

My company has several accounts with AT&T. I will ensure all of them will switch to a different provider.

Paul F replied on Nov 25, 2008When you are canceling your contract with AT&T, you may want to send a letter to them explaining why you are canceling your contact and offering to them that if they stop sponsoring entertainment events where animals are mistreated, then they should contact you and you’ll re-considered joining them. This helps teach AT&T a lesson about losing its customers as well as helps give AT&T some incentive to get your business back.
As a side, quite a few friends have joined Credo Mobile, which donates a percentage of its profits to causes including animal welfare. They also donate to other progressive causes. I believe you can specify where they donate this if you want to limit it to animal causes. I may be wrong on this.

neil kenes replied on Dec 15, 2008It is SAD to see such on TV, when I flip thru the stations and see those types of manipulatory programs.
Historically, It’s sad because alot of those creatures are probably put thru that type of humiliation and then they are murdered and devoured. Picture as a human living that type of life, how would it make you feel? I guess you may begin to ask how you can defend yourself from being born into such a situation again ~ how can one build greater security in that sense?
I always try to think of other ETHICAL activities to suggest to the people who are doing the rodeos… I once did BAD things like hunting and fishing activities and then I changed out of that stuff, realizing the wrongful pain and suffering that I was causing others.
There are many other peaceful activities to enjoy in life and perhaps the people would actually feel better about their lives.

SHARK (Showing Animals Respect and Kindness) staged an all out publicity campaign with an ultimatum issued to AT&T Cingular for January 1st, 2007. Along with SHARK, PETA, IDA, and ARAN have all joined the campaign to no avail. The ultimatum date has gone and passed without changes in corporate behavior leaving few viable alternatives left to implicate a multi-billion dollar company.
Fortunately, if 500,000 AT&T customers concerned with animal rights band together and promise to terminate contracts it will send a clear public message and financial dent from consumers that infringements on animal rights is repugnant and should be stopped immediatly. The average AT&T subscriber typically spends $1000 a year on service. Subsequently, if 500,000 people simulatenously terminated their contracts – AT&T would stand to lose $500,000,000 in revenue in one fiscal quarter alone, nearly a quarter of the companies annual revenue which currently stands at $2.3 billion. Such a number would necessitate a response from AT&T brass. The wireless service sector is one of the most competitive in the nation and losing a half million customers coupled with a loss of a half billion dollars in revenue to other companies such as Verizon and Sprint would cement their stronghold in the market and relegate AT&T to a second class carrier causing investor and consumer confidence to bottom out.
A key aspect of success will also be terminating our contracts without being obligated to pay the eraly termination fee. Below is a link that goes through a step by step process to cancel service without having to pay the fee:
