Hello everybody,
I just wanted to write and update you on this Dunkin Donuts campaign. As this campaign has been gaining momentum over the past week, I thought it was time for me to make an appointment with the owner of the Dunkin Donuts in question to discuss our requests. I was able to make an appointment today with a store manager, who is the brother of the store owners.
I went into the store and sat down with the manager and had a very promising conversation. I re-explained our request (that they provide donations of leftover donuts to the Inter-Faith Food Shuttle twice a week), reminded him of the North Carolina Good Samaritan Law, and left a written letter with him outlining our request. At the end of the conversation, he assured me that he would work hard to convince the store owners (his brother and sister) to comply with our request! This means that as of now we have somebody inside the Dunkin Donut’s store to support us and help us make this happen from the inside.
It was a very promising discussion that I hope will yield good results very soon. As I got up to leave, the manager offered me a free donut. I told him it was unnecessary, but he insisted, and I picked out a French cruller to take home. He bagged it and I thanked him, and left the store.
As I stepped out, I saw an older gentleman sitting on a bench and recognized him as one of the local homeless who have been appearing more and more on Hillsborough Street in Raleigh. I thought it would be very much in the spirit of this campaign to give him the free donut the manager had given me, so I walked up to him and gave it to him. He was very appreciative, and handed me a small bunch of flowers he’d picked earlier in thanks (see the picture!).

Please invite your local friends and associates to join this campaign! We are already almost at the “halfway hump”, and as we gain more momentum and work towards our tipping point, it will show Dunkin Donuts that more people are interested in their willingness to help out. You can use the “Share Campaign” button on The Point site to send an invitation to people you know, or just give them a link to the campaign – they should be able to join from here: https://www.thepoint.com/campaigns/dunkin-do-no…
Thanks all!!!
Your Campaign Organizer, Amber
