Natural Alternatives and Stores

  • I stopped drinking soda a while ago, but I still like Gin & Tonics.

I was looking for tonic that didn’t contain HFCS. The local wine store had one brand, but it was $6 for 4 6oz bottles.

Then I found that Whole Foods had 365 (store brand) brand tonic for $2.69 for 6 12 oz cans. Far cheaper than even the “leading brands” like Canada Dry which was $4.69 for a 6-pack and contains HFCS.

So, it would be nice if companies stopped using corn syrup, but in the meantime you can buy very good natural sodas from Whole Foods, Trader Joe’s, etc, which despite their reputation, are often cheaper.

You also have the satisfaction of knowing that you’re supporting a company that is pro-actively doing the right thing, rather than resisting it (and causing you to waste time and energy).

It’s important to support these companies because without them and their competition, larger manufactures would have no pressure to ever switch.
