    Pepsi has announced this new line of cane sugar products called “Throwback”

    This is why we are all here, right? Granted, I personally wish Pepsi were a better tasting formula; however, on vacation recently, I was afforded the local luxury of all sweetened beverages using nothing but sugar, and guess what? Pepsi was delicious!

    If we can all promote this product in mass and continue efforts to invite people to this campaign, there will be proof that the people demand better food standards from major manufacturers through generation of revenue, the only effective indicator for big business.

    I contacted Pepsi about Throwback and they have no intention of making this product on a regular basis. When I asked why they bothered to put it out there, I never got a response.

    There is a cola product out there that could really displace Coke and Pepsi, if they were to get into stores. It is called New Century Cola. In my opinion, it has the best I have ever found and I used to drink Coke all the time. I get it from my health food store. It is awesome.

    There is a brand of soda that is readily available in many grocery stores and supermarkets already that uses natural sugar. It is called Jarritos and is available in fruit punch, grapefruit, guava, hibiscus, lime, mandarin, pineapple, strawberry, tamarmind, mango, watermelon, and lemon-lime flavors. Also, most of them are naturally flavored so expect it to taste like a lime/watermelon/etc. NOT the candied version. Admittedly, I have never seen all the flavors available in a single store but usually anywhere from 3-5 of the varieties is available at a single location, more at a Hispanic market because it is a Mexican soda. You can even find it almost anywhere though, including Wal-Mart. This is my favorite soda, hands down. Also, though my brother drinks Jones Pure Cane Soda which is also good, and you guessed it- it is made with pure cane soda.

    It’s my understanding that we have HFCS in everything because of a tarriff on imported sugar, implemented to protect american growers from cheap caribbean and south american sugar, working in tandem with subsidies to corn growers. This campaign should focus on the larger issue – ending farm subsidies!
