THE PITCH

An anti-Muslim organization has distributed 28 million DVDs that encourage Islamophobia to swing-state readers through newspapers, one of which is The New York Times (it distributed 145,000 DVDs).

We would like to respond by distributing “On Common Grounds” on the streets of Colorado, Ohio and Florida.

“On Common Grounds” is an hour-long
documentary that tells the story of three groups, Jewish, Christian and Muslim who all attempt to overcome their differences by building a house for
a poor family in Mexico… but they have to do it in one day!

The film is entertaining, and answers the questions of non-Muslims about Muslims in a non-threatening and non-propaganda way as it features all three religions and even touches on the issue of Palestine. The film is a message of hope and peace and would be perfect to counter the message of fear by the “Obsession film”.

Once we reach $5,650, all the money will be sent to Zahra Pictures, which will provide the movies and ship them to the groups in Colorado, Florida and Ohio who will distribute the movies on the streets.

Zahra Picture’s new address is:
Zahra Pictures LLC
1621 S Pomona Ave # D-19
Fullerton, CA 92832 USA

So this is the address where the check will be sent. The other address is old.

If you prefer to mail a check, Zahra Pictures requests that you do not mail the check directly to them. Please e-mail me at (skalmuttawa at yahoo dot com) and I will give you a different address to send the check to. They do not want to be responsible for keeping track of many different checks; they prefer that we send them one check with the lump sum.

Thank you!

ZAHRA PICTURES is an independent motion picture company based in Southern California. It launched in 2004 with the aim of producing and distributing quality films and documentaries that celebrate cultural diversity, contribute to public dialogue and provide a platform of understanding among different cultures with a special interest in stories that showcase the Arab and Muslim experience.

Zahra Pictures’ first film, On Common Grounds, produced and directed by Ahmad Zahra and broadcast on the Hallmark Channel, demonstrates this commitment to dialogue and understanding. Zahra Pictures’ mission is also illustrated in its other productions including its deal with Faith & Values Media, a New York based broadcaster, to produce segments for their award winning daily show, New Morning, that airs on the Hallmark Channel and features stories of ordinary people with extra-ordinary life experiences.

Another goal of the company is to support new and emerging talent in front of, and behind the camera through diverse casting, short film productions, internships and training opportunities. In 2005, Zahra Pictures joined award winning actor Tony Shalhoub and the Network of Arab American Professionals (NAAP) to co-sponsor the 1st Arab-American Filmmaker Competition. In 2006, it made possible a film grant to Cal State University, Fullerton to produce the schools first 35mm student film, Beyond the Fence, directed by emerging Saudi filmmaker, Fahmi F. Farahat.

Zahra Pictures was founded and is headed by Producer Ahmad Zahra and is co-owned by Colorado based investment firm the Dana Group. The company currently has many projects in various stages including AmericanEast, a feature film co-production with veteran film company Distant Horizon, starring Golden Globe Winning Actor, Tony Shalhoub.
