Little Village and Chicago area Youth are calling on the Mayor of Chicago live up to his Green image and follow in Speaker of the House’s Nancy Pilosi’s footsteps in shutting down the Coal Plant in Washington, DC last week. LVEJO and many local youth demand that same happen in Chicago, Illinois and across the nation, to get off of dirty coal and onto renewable.
Close down the two Coal-burning power plants in Chicago that are the largest U.S. source of carbon dioxide pollution and produce 2.5 billion tons every year.
These plants are also responsible for 995 premature deaths and 21,400 asthma attacks in the Chicago area each year, according to the American Lung Association.
Outdated power plants should not be allowed to endanger the health of our communities, especially if Chicago wants the 2016 Olympics!
