THE PITCH

Charlotte is the largest metropolitian area in the country that does not have a ZOO. The city leaders have spent a billion dollars of public money for projects that benefit a small percentage of our citizens(Bob Cat’s Arena, Whitewater Center, Nascar Hall of Fame, and the Park Bonds). In fact, in the Park bond request study, the independent report indicated that the voters of Mecklenburg wanted a major attraction for the $250,000,000 they approved (a Zoo, an Aquarium, or a Botanical Garden). What did the voters get? “A Donut”
The citizens want a ZOO. Zoo professionals have indicated that the Charlotte area will support a million plus visitor ZOO. This is the number you need for financial success. In addition to keeping the organization independent of any governmental control.
This will be our first fundraiser to show the Charlotte area there is support.
