  • Hi Folks,

Thank you for joining the BrowserCam group purchase. We have 11 members and need just 14 more. Please feel free to spread the word about the group purchase.

    Thanks.

  • if we don’t get 25 members I’d suggest to purchase it as a smaller group. I’d also pay more than $40 for browsercam.

What do the others think about that?

    Best regards from Germany

I would be willing to pay more for the service, in a smaller group.

  • Hi Folks,

Let’s see if we can get more members. If we don’t make the goal by the deadline and there are enough folks interested in paying a bit more for the Premium plan (I am willing), then I will open a new campaign and set the cost with input from the group.

    Sincerely,
    Vanessa

  • hi folks,

i would be happy to join you, but i couldnt figure out how to pay with my german credit card. only to find out today, that thepoint is not supporting international payments (besides USA/australia/canada/UK). to bad.

but wait: moritz H (from germany) mangaged to do this…

    any suggestions?

    best, etienne

  • hi folks,

just to let you know – this is the official reply of thepoint-support:

“Sorry you are having trouble. For now, the site only accepts credit cards with an American billing address. As we expand we hope to change that!”

    hope something changes soon here.

  • Hi Etienne,

I am sorry, I thought that the Point was global. That’s one of the reasons I was giving it a try.

    Sincerely,
    Vanessa

  • hi vanessa,

thats why i am telling it here. but the information from the support-guy is not consistent with the credit card form thats online: their they accept US/Canada/Australia/UK. also not really “global”…

what is against accepting international credit cards? its so easy if you use services like paypal…

    regards,
    etienne

  • Hi Etienne,

I am open to supplementing this campaign with another pay-in method that supports global involvement, however the key is the escrow feature. I want to handle the funds as little as possible. I like the fact the funds are not available until the goal has been reached. I am willing to get the funds from point A to point B, I just do not want to hold them in the interim.

  • hi vanessa,

as far as i know there is no “all-or-nothing funding method” (escrow-service) at this moment (besides amazon)… too bad. but you could take payments via your paypal-account and cancel them within 60 days if the campaign fails (paypal refunds the fees). this way you WOULD be holding the funds for the interim period – but for me this wouldnt be a problem. not a very elegant way of doing this… but better than nothing, maybe.

what withheld you from using kickstarter.com?

    best,
    etienne

  • With kickstarter, you need an invite to access the service. I tried to get an invite, hard to do. I even asked them directly. If you have an invite or know someone who is willing to invite me, have them send the invite to browsercam@vrmenterprises.com and I will give it a try.

    Sincerely,
    Vanessa

  • how about the paypal-solution?

  • Hi Etienne,

I tried finding the information about the 60-day period, could you send the URL with this information?

The PayPal solution requires a lot more work, I would have to calculate and keep track of the transaction fees. BrowserCam will waive The Point and Kickstarter fees, but has not do so for PayPal.

    Sincerely,
    Vanessa

  • hi vanessa,

its in their help-files (i cant send you a good link, because i only found it on the german site).

by the way: i now tried to complete my payment with an american credit card: the site crashes on both mac/firefox3.6 AND mac/safari (mac os 10.5.8) during the process.

    whats going on here?

anyone managed to get his payment through on the same system?

    best,
    etienne

  • Hi Etienne,

Granted I am in the USA, but I don’t think the web cares. I am on a Mac (10.5.11) though I am about to upgrade, and use Firefox (3.5.7).

    Sincerely,
    Vanessa

  • hi vanessa,

its the site thats broke at the moment. this is what their support says:

“It seems as though that problem is a temporary bug with our site. I’ve alerted our developers and we hope to have this fixed within a day. Very sorry for the trouble.”

hope they can fix that. its kind of a sloppy experience to use thepoint…

    best,
    etienne

  • no wonder the number of subscribers to the pledge is stable…

  • I just pledged and had no trouble. I’m on FF 3.5.7 and Mac OS 10.5.8. Thank you to whoever started this, my browsercam group from fundable was almost up and just learned fundable is no longer available. I tried emailing the founder of the group I was in, it just bounces. I will try to email those in my group about this new one.

  • hi vanessa,

yes they fixed it. and i joined.

  • Hi Etienne,

    Thanks for hanging in there.

    Sincerely,
    Vanessa
