End Mandatory Data Plans for Smart Phones

This campaign is about consumer choice. Currently, wireless providers require smart phones to be bundled with a data plan for the phone to operate. Because many smart phones have wifi capability and other useful features, customers that want a smart phone but have no use for the data plan are still required to pay an additional monthly fee for a data plan. This mandatory monthly service can add up to a lot of money. If consumers want a phone with additional features but do not want to use data, they should have the option to opt out of the data plan. If wireless providers are not met with resistance now, they may make a habit out of requiring more and more services just to use a cellphone.
