We love Muir Glen tomatoes! But after calling the company to inquire about the contents of their cans’ white liner, we were told that it does indeed contain BPA (bisphenol A).
Muir Glen claimed that BPA has been determined to be safe, however this conflicts with the information we’ve all heard regarding BPA, especially in plastics that are subjected to heat.
Consumers that choose organic over conventional typically do so both for quality and also for their health and the health of their families. If there is uncertainty about BPA, why take the risk?

Anonymous replied 3 days agoI’ve since learned about the chemical BPA which most canned foods are lined with and how harmful it is on our health. This news was alarming to say the least. And too, this harmful chemical is in most all plastic bottled drinks which leach out into the liquid. I would purchase your canned tomato products if you discontinued lining your canned goods with it. I know of people who mistakenly believed you no longer lined your cans with it and now they say they have bought their last Muir Glen product until you remove all traces of this from your cans. I do not want my children to die from cancer nor do I want my friends and relatives to suffer from prostrate cancer. Please reconsider.
