THE PITCH

The Chicago Cubs are currently up for sale and Mark Cuban is the front-runner. Cuban would be a new type of owner for baseball. One who will sit in the famed bleachers at Wrigley in jeans and a Cubs hat while “bonding with the Bleacher Bums… splurging for rounds of Old Style beer and screaming at umpires”. He is loud, passionate, opinionated, and will treat the players and fans with respect.

Even though Cuban has the highest bid, he still needs approval from 23 of the 30 owners. The old school owners of MLB believe he will claim the spotlight in a negative way and worry about his antics. But many baseball fans want Cuban because he’d be great for the sport. His antics are harmless and entertaining and he brings an unrivaled commitment to winning.

We’ll all make pledges towards the Jackie Robinson Foundation, a MLB affiliated charity, but they only go there once Mark Cuban becomes owner of the Cubs.

Even David Stern supports Cuban , the same guy who has fined him $1.7 million. Plus, whenever he gets fined he matches it with a charitable donation. Once he got fined for insulting the chief of referees as incapable of managing a Dairy Queen. For retribution, he spent a day at the chain serving up a promotional bonanza. Mark Cuban is a philanthropist, a billionaire and a winner. This is exactly what the Cubs need.
