I’m not saying all of these are great—they just are not owned by Ticketmaster. Feel free to respond with your thoughts on these or other option.

Here is the concept that I am grappling. Scalpers in any form shouldn’t it be illegal?
Why is it that mega ticketing organizations Ticketmaster or any ticketing institution for that matter, are allowed to sell out large blocks of tickets to ticketing brokers (a.k.a scalpers)?
These ticketing brokers are gobbling up tickets right out of the gate, using whatever technologies they have to beat the average joe from buying a measly ticket to see their favorite live act.
Currently, no legislation exists to curb ticketing brokers from purchasing mass amounts of tickets and reselling them for outrageous prices ($100 to $4000).
If scalping on the street is illegal, then shouldn’t scalping on the Internet be considered illegal too? If we are allowing ticketing brokers to scalp, then we should allow the average joe to scalp outside of their local venue.
The principal of it is annoying and frustrating.
I just tried to buy ACDC tickets for Edmonton. I hate ticketmaster….not 10 minutes after the tickets went on sale, they were on the web for 1500.00. The face value is 100.00. WE HAVE TO STOP THIS. Complain to anyone you think can make a difference and don’t stop until they change it. Use your networks, facebook, etc. to get this changed. ACDC wasn’t going to come to Edmonton and we petitioned them until they added us to thier concert tour. Get enough people and we CAN change this!
I too hate the Ticketmaster “monopoly”!
That they control all sales of tickets to an event or theater is an outrage.
And thei fees and “handling charges” are unconscienciable and should be illegal.
I tried to buy tickets within seconds (the necessary time to log in) of the buy time and found no tickets available. I agree with the previous post – scalping should be illegal fot corporations also.
