Bohemian Rhapsody Flash Mob Narrative Overview

Queen’s “Bohemian Rhapsody” is possibly the greatest song of all time (as you know). Meanwhile, Target Department Stores are a drag. The law of diffusion says that things disperse equally over time from areas of high concentration to areas of low concentration. That is why we must disperse the high-energy fun times of Bohemian Rhapsody throughout the Target Department store at 1154 S. Clark Street, Chicago, IL, 60605, at the corner of Clark and Roosevelt.

Damn! I will be out of town on 8/16! Effing brilliant idea. Please keep me on whatever mailing list you have for musical flash mobs — I’m large, I’m loud, and I can carry a tune.

We will meet up together just before the actual singing takes place, to go over the plan in the parking lot near the Roosevelt Green/Red/Orange Line stops. The lot is behind a building that says “Cleaners” on the corner of State & Roosevelt, just west of the el stop.

At that point I will give you instructions on the few blocks walk remaining to arrive at Target. I will also provide you with written lyrics to Bohemian Rhapsody (if you require them). If I am able to recruit any of the living members of Queen to join our flash mob, I will introduce them at this pre-performance gathering and give them an opportunity to speak. (You will applaud).

Then we will walk a few blocks West to the Target. We’ll enter staggered to avoid suspicion.

EVERYONE MUST SYNCHRONIZE YOUR ANALOGUE WATCHES WITH THE OFFICIAL U.S. TIME

We will choose the specific start time once we’re all in the parking lot. You can anticipate that it will be somewhere between 1:25 and 1:40 most likely.

Obviously it will be more fun if you don’t have to read the lyrics — and though most people do know the lyrics there are a few tricky parts in the breakdown so it’d be good to practice a few times in advance if you can. This is not a requirement but a recommendation.

Singing the parts of other instruments IS allowed. This will make it more realistic.

If you sign up you better be there.
