THE PITCH

Animals have feelings too, and they can feel pain just like we can. We can’t let people get away with abusing animals any longer! What does that say about Canada as a country? It says we don’t value living creatures, and we should. Animals were NOT made to be harmed for sick pleasure. This includes people who hurt or kill innocent animals for no reason, puppy and kitty mills, irresponsible pet owners and anyone else that is somehow gratified by the pain and suffering of another creature. It’s time for those people to suffer the consequences of their actions and pay the price for what they have done to another living creature. Canada needs to update its laws to reflect the 21st Century and NOT the 19th century when our animal protection laws were written!

i was reading the newspaper this morning, and there was a horrible story (i couldn’t even read the whole thing) about a cat being killed in a microwave. the worst part? the person responsible will not face jail time or have consequences for what they did. this is a great starting point for a letter.

‘Animals Feel Pain, Too!’ has reached the tipping point!

That means that it’s time for everybody to complete the pledge: “Write to: local member of parliament, local newspaper or any politician”

Remember that your participation is critical to the campaign’s success. With your help and only with your help will you successfully achieve your goal.

Also why will my profile picture not show? These may be stupid questions i am technologically challenged! And are all the other nine members in this campaign from Canada….

Once i’ve had a minute to complete my article/letter (& recorded the recipient names/addresses/emails) i’ll post it here – & maybe it would be good if everyone who pledged did the same, to ensure super-effective messages? (also, since we’re only 12 members we oughta maximize efforts by cc’ing our contact lists & asking them to send letters too?) Just some ideas…

Sarah, Great idea! I am so thrilled that people joined. I saw a commercial on tv tonight to help the SPCA’s in Canada and it just made my heart break, I couldn’t even finish watching it. To think that people do that makes me sick.

    hey amanda
just write about what you think should change and why. something along the lines of this:

how we need to update our laws to reflect the time we live in. a country can its judged by how well it treats not only by how it treats its citizens, but also by how well it treats its animals. people who torture or kill animals, or don’t take proper care of their pets should have consequences to face, and harsh ones at that. animals are not simply products to throw away. people need to take care of their pets and this needs to be enforced. dogs should be on leashes. dogs should not be left unattended all day tied to a chain in the backyard. the punishment must fit the crime. train your animals and don’t let them run wild. spay or neuter unless you plan to breed. really anything you can think of that needs to be changed when it comes to animal welfare
