THE PITCH

Lucy(83) and her son Dave (57) live in a well managed mobile home park in Richmond, Virginia. During the past few years Lucy has found it more and more difficult to climb the four steps leading into her home. She depends on a cane, or walker whenever she ventures out.

Even though on her own, Lucy is an ideal candidate for the ElderHomes Wheel Chair Ramp Program, her call for help was prompted by out of concern for her son. Dave had recently been told that he faces the very real possibility that his chronic health problems would soon force him into a wheel chair. He is a diabetic and must go to a dialysis center three times a week for treatment, and his life depends on these visits.

Those same four steps that have become a problem for his mother now represent a formidable barrier for Dave as well. A wheel chair ramp would have a significant impact on both their lives, but the cost is prohibitive. ElderHomes is a 501©(3) organization that provides ADA compliant ramps. Thank you!
